7 Tips on How to Move Forward When You Feel Stuck In A Rut

We go through highs and lows in our lives and getting stuck in the rut is inevitable. Rather than dwelling upon it - the most important thing is to bounce back from it as soon as possible and today, I will be sharing my top 7 tips on how to move forward when you feel stuck!

Don't worry - they aren't rocket science and I am very sure you can do them. ;)

7 Tips on How to Move Forward When You Feel Stuck In A Rut

1. Acknowledge that you're stuck in a rut

Self-awareness and acknowledgement is an important one. Start paying attention to signs that you may be in a rut. Are you feeling unmotivated? Do you feel like binge watching Narcos on Netflix? Are you procrastinating because the thought of doing a task right now is making you sick? Acknowledge that and you are on your first step to getting out of it!

2. Go outside

It is true that nature is the best medicine! If you are lucky enough to be living in a city with plentiful of beaches and parks, go out, get some fresh air and get moving! Otherwise - take yourself out to your favourite cafe or restaurant. Cabin fever is a thing, y’all and it can be a contributing factor to being stuck in a rut!

3. Do something completely different

Literally, do something completely different. If you’re stuck in the business rut - rather than forcing through your tasks, do some colouring or whatever hobby you have instead. If it is a fitness rut that you are stuck in - go for a completely different workout. For e.g. if you have always been a lifting kinda girl, go for a yoga or reformer class instead. Or if you have always been into yoga, go lift some weights or try a zumba session!

4. Treat yourself

Be it a full body massage or manicure (Vaniday is great for last minute booking. I signed up for a full body Thai massage a little over a month ago - it was a little intense *guilty for not stretching well after workout* but my whole body definitely feels a whole lot more relaxed after!).

Or go and buy yourself that yoga pants you have been eyeing! (I love my Victoria Secret yoga pants!) Nothing beats the blues better than treating yo'self!

5. Sweat It Out

Hit the gym, go for a run, do some hills sprints or go for a yoga class. Do whatever you enjoy - just get them endorphins pumping. This is not a myth, exercises does make everything better!

Personally, I enjoy lifting some heavy weights to let off some steam. Kickboxing is another great option too.

6. Seek inspiration/ mindset

Listen to your favourite podcasts (I am currently digging Lewis Howes), speak to a coach or like minded friends, read a good self development book (Dan Norris’ Create or Hate is a good one - especially when hate is taking over!). Sometimes all you need is a little inspiration.

7. Remember WHY you do what you do

As cliche as it is - remember your WHY, remember the driving force of why you do what you do. We are bound to face with obstacles every now and then, it’s the why and our vision that keeps us going.
